WELP since I've hit 1k comments, might as well throw this out there. I've really only the one character in the ring, so ask me anything about Ochre/Kanji!
Seriously though; Ochre sees Ed as something of a mentor figure. He's been around as long as Tiamt has, he knows pretty much everything, and he's generally willing to share what he knows. Ochre might not always take him up on the offer, but it's cool knowing that there's someone there to infodump at the drop of a hat.
Similarly, Ochre pretty much trusts Ed implicitly- he knows that Ed's looking out for Tiamat as a whole, and is hella smarter than him, so even if he might give Ed shit over it, he'll go along with a hell of a lot, which should make certain games- interesting. Granted, that goes for pretty much all of Tiamat right now, but still. If asked who he thought the 'leader' of Tiamat is, right now, he'd probably say Ed and Clover.
One of the things I was hoping for when jumping in was to get a team that felt like the IT from Ochre's canon- and I really think that I got super lucky in the draw here. With Tiamat as a whole, Ochre feels like he's part of a team, and feels like it's part of his 'job' to stand up for the others- including Ed, who he keeps forgetting is a Super Powerful Mage, mostly because of the tiny.
Basically, Ed is senpai. Good luck with that.
Reverse?

I'd start by saying 'Ed likes Ochre and thinks they're friends' but. That is true of everyone Ed has spoken to for five minutes who doesn't overtly threaten him or turn him into a pinata. So let's skip that. Let's also skip forgetting that he's a super powerful mage--to an extent Ed would like everyone to forget that he just sort of blew up a person's soul from the inside in one universe-ending spell one time. It makes his life easier.
There's no faster way to Ed's heart than listening to his opinions, even the ones that aren't so friendly and fluffy. Ochre has not only done this, he's actually voiced some opinions that Ed has kept very close to his own chest while they were talking. As a result, Ed sort of sees Ochre as someone he can be frank with without worrying too much about getting himself yelled at for being controversial or weird--and that says a lot because for a while Ed only really divulged all what he was thinking to like. Two people. He worries a little that Ochre's violent streak is going to cause trouble at some point, but he also feels confident that Ochre can rein it in when he has to. Still, he feels like Ochre's heart is definitely in the right place and with Ed that's all that matters for being good friends!!
So Ochre. I note you made out with Peony. Did stuff get complicated? :* :*
Hm. I guess... "She's got really cold skin, but she's warm where it counts and it's refreshing in a very good way." More seriously he doesn't make a point of hiding it, but by the same token he understands that there's probably a lot of people around who will judge him for it.
But then, he kind of doesn't care? There's people who judge him for everything he does, and while he doesn't want to upset people on his own, if they go digging for information and wind up upset over it that isn't really his fault and he's tired of being yelled at for it. Yue is nice and sweet and also fun to hang around with and likes being a bit of a prankster and it's fine for him and outside of that it's None Of Your Goshdarn Business. :|
Okay then Ochre do you have any strong feelings on echoes??
Everything is awful and I'm laughing like a maniac.
Not really? He's only interacted with Delriza so far, and the only other Echos he's seen have been the if not good, then at least not actively malicious ones, like EDEN. (TBH, he likes EDEN, EDEN got them legos, which was awesome.)
He'll probably get an actual opinion once the trauma game kinda. Knocks him down a couple of pegs.
SPEAKING OF TRAUMA are you ready for this game, Ed, because I'm reading the logs on what you did the last time they ran this kind of game and wow bro.
If the team winds up in a stalemate, he will resolve the stalemate in whatever way he can that works out best for all parties involved.
But no he's probably not doing that again. It was a delicate situation related to a combination of 'everyone is running from doing anything at all,' 'nobody is agreeing on anything,' and 'nobody is willing to budge at all, eleventy billion times over.' So he did a dumb thing to help Tiamat. Like a determined shonen should. It's roughly the equivalent of having thirty seconds to untie a knot and deciding 'fuck it, I'm a wizard' and chainsaw lasering it in half.
At least that's what he thinks. Like- even though he's been told what the bad games are like, and even though he's been in plenty of games already, he still has this weird idea of how it will turn out, and what it'll be like, and it's just.
Well, it's just wrong. He's seeing it as almost like a gladiatorial kind of thing, or like one of the exploradoria's but with actual violence, rather than poem fights. This is going to be something of a rude awakening for him, especially because he's going to miss the entire first round and the mingle due to [INSERT UNKNOWN IC EXCUSE HERE], so he'll just be going in blind only to find his team suffering over shit he wasn't even there to even try to prevent.
So, you know, I'm ready?
Does Ed realize most of his new kids are murder-happy monsters? Like, I know nothing about Darker than Black, but Saph, Sword, and Ochre are all going to be bus happy, if this last game was anything to go by. (Not that Saph is playing, but still. Bus.)
He has an inkling that they are nowhere near as cute and fluffy as the original tiamats were (Seriously he and clover were the bus happy portion of the team).
I'm also pretty sure that Ed is going to actually be arguing on the 'PLAY LESS HARD' side of things, because of ic developments that he's been keeping an eye on giving him the idea that actually killing people is going to end badly on this particular game.
Which is nice for me because I'm used to him being the bus side of things, so a new angle is fun!
Where does Ochre peg Ed at on the murder/don't murder scale of things.
Based on their interactions so far? Kanji has Ed pinned pretty solidly on the 'murder' side of things. Their goal is to get their worlds back, so- fight as hard as you can to do it. Assume the other teams are doing so as well, because they probably are.
So, having Ed tell him to chill- he's not going to, say, ignore what Ed's telling him, but he is going to check and see if there's a status effect in play. Because that's basically going against EVERYTHING Ed's been saying so far. (Unless there's another team there, in which case he'll assume these are people who have reacted badly in the past and glare at them. Because he's a hufflepuff, apparently.)
(well luckily Ed is going to use logic when he does say something like that, so at least it won't be un edlike)
I'm most proud of his one in canon, wrt his sister. Over the course of it he comes to terms with the idea that no, some people are just going to be straight up evil and terrible no matter what and the only option they will give you is to take them out or they'll just keep doing it.
In the end, even though it kills him inside but he does it--because it's what he has to do.
Kanji can change any one thing about himself--what is it?

You know what, I will get back to you once we actually finish tagging it out.
As of right now, it's just awkward fluff with a one sided crush that's being purposefully ground into oblivion.
Or at least, attempted to be grounded into oblivion, anyway. Like I said, we'll get back to you on this one.
(Besides, amnesia or not, this is Kanji fucking Tatsumi, when has him and emotions ever NOT gotten complected?)
ETA: Ignore that, it just got complicated. Peony's finally twigged on to Ochre's crush, bless.
And lobbing that one right back at you- Ed, I see you're involved with an Echo. Anything to say about that?

I don't see that happening twice.
SO HOW ABOUT KANJI R U READY.
