Memory: "So even if they're caught, the law can't do shit?" (12/03)
Regained: 146, Waldemar/Lilith - Participated
Summary: Just a whole lot of confusing shit, plus some minor info dumping. Watch from 15:55 to 22:52. As always, names are fuzzed.

This memory starts in a mall's cafeteria, with that same group of teenagers as in the last few memories- plus the blond, some new guy in a blue hat, and another new girl, this one in an unaltered school uniform. You're gathered around the newspaper, first discussing the weather- a thick set fog that people are concerned might be hazardous. The blond mentions that it reminds him of the fog on the 'other side', but other than that, you're all clueless.

Blue notices another item- a piece on a lead murder suspect. "There's another item of note here… A summary of Namatame's career, with details about the case. …The suspect was having an affair with the first victim. It seems she was killed due to relationship troubles. Also in April, Ms. Saki Konishi's body was discovered. The police are looking into a motive for the murder. In July, a boy living in Inaba performed a copycat murder. The boy was initially thought to be the culprit behind all the killings, but later suspicion was thrown upon Namatame. Last month, the suspect attempted to kidnap a seven-year-old girl of Inaba, resulting in his arrest…"

Somehow, all of this information is not only known to your group, but leads to a discussion on how you know the suspect is guilty, but you're worried about how the police will make the case, seeing as how the murders are all tied to 'the TV world'. Blue seems to know the most about how the police works, which leads to this discussion:

Red: Also, I heard before that if the police don't have enough hard evidence, it's difficult to build a case.

Blue: Yes. There are many such cases and culprits. It's the eternal conundrum for crime investigators.

Ochre: So even if they're caught, the law can't do shit?

Blue: ...It's a possibility.

Ochre: Hell's up with that!? We all know he did it. You can't just let a maniac who thinks he's saving people by killing them run wild on the streets!

Headphones: They better not dismiss something this serious because of some mental issues. Saki-senpai... No. Not just her, or that announcer. Even King Moron is his fault. If it weren't for what he did, nobody would've tried a copycat killing. It's his fault Nanako-chan's in the hospital right now, too...

This seems to remind Silver that he had a promise to the girl in the hospital to pick up a new Kotatsu, and as a group you move to that section of the store, latching onto that promise as a way to cheer up.

Once you're there, the blond seems down, asking "Can I still stay here? You kept your promise to me, so I should be going back... But I don't want to go until Nana-chan gets better"

This leads to the group as a whole reassuring the blond that, yes, he is still welcome to stay, and even though [Nanako] was injured, she'll get better, and that they couldn't have caught the killer without him.

After that, there's a discussion of a welcome home party for [Nanako], the possibility of charging [Nanako's] gifts to Headphones again, Headphones and Green squabbling, and whether or not the girls should make a cake. Spirits are generally high as Silver gets a phone call.

Reaction:
- ...wow that's an info dump
- So, there was a killer. And we brought him in. But in the process of bringing him in, someone was injured?
- Also, why can't the police know about 'the TV world'?
- Where is the blond from?
- Who are these new people?
- WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS MEMORY?

Effects:
- Rank up: teamdere
- Knowledge up: Japanese life and basic everyday customs
- Memory unlocked: "Can't believe this is happening..." (12/03)
